Dennis Eugene Baker age 72 of Klinger Lake, White Pigeon, Michigan passed away early Sunday morning February 22, 2015 at his home. He was born June 4, 1942 in Columbus, Ohio son of the late Raymond and Emogene (Herb) Baker. Dennis resided most of his life in Sturgis and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1960. He furthered his education at Tri-State University in Angola, Indiana and Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. On December 14, 1963 he married Judy Reed at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. Dennis, along with his wife Judy, founded and owned and operated Midwest Plastic Engineering, Inc. in Sturgis. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis, Meridian Sun-Eagle Lodge #49 F&AM, B.P.O.Elks #1381, St. Joseph County Conservation & Sportsman Club, National Corvette Restoration Society and the National Street Rod Association. Dennis enjoyed restoring classic automobiles and he was currently in the process of building a replica Chris Craft boat. He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 51 years: Judy; two sons: Scott (Michelle) Baker and Kirby (Erin) Baker both of Klinger Lake; two grandsons: Andrew Baker and Adam Baker; two step-granddaughters: Brianna Dressler and Lauren Dressler; one brother: Roger (Donna) Baker of Powell, Ohio; brother-in-law: Lynn (Marti) Reed of White Pigeon; two nephews: Jeff Baker of Columbus, Ohio, and Brian (Pam) Reed of Whispering Pines, North Carolina; two nieces: Jami Baker of Irvine, California and Christy (Mickey) Gaines of Kalamazoo and three great nieces: Madison Gaines, Carly Gaines and Brianne Moores; one great nephew: Austin Reed and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles. The family will receive family and friends from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. Friday at the Hackman Chapel of Hackman Family Funeral Homes, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331, where a Masonic Memorial service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Friday. Funeral services celebrating the life of Dennis E. Baker will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis. The Rev. Jeanne Koughn and Pastor Robert Keim will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
