Samuel Parton

Samuel L. Parton, 91, of Bradley passed away at Riverside Medical Center, February 23, 2015. He was born June 7, 1923 in Broseley, Missouri the son of Claude and Rebecca (Few) Parton. He married Marjorie Durell October 19, 1946 and she passed away on August 26, 2001. Mr. Parton was a tool and die maker for the Roper Coroperaton of 24 years. He was a veteran of the Army Corp of Engineers, a member of the Bradley Church of the Nazarene and the Park District Seniors. He enjoyed gardening, golfing, music and was a master joke teller.

Samuel is survived by his children Shirley Slabough of Kingman, AZ, Joyce (Don) Sexton of Bradley, Diane Parton of Nashville, TN and Larry Parton of Bourbonnais; a brother George Parton of Pheonix, AZ; sister Naomi Helms of Hoodsport, Washington; 7 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Claudine Parton, Reva Warren and Alda Light, brother Vernal Parton and grandson Robert Baugh.

A time for family and friends to gather will be held at the Bourbonnais Chapel of the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home, Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 3pm until 8pm and the funeral service Friday, February 27, 2015 at 1pm. Burial will take place at a later date at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood. Memorials may be made to family wishes.
