Robert F. Smith 88, of Kankakee passed away on Sunday, January 25th 2015 at Riverside Medical Center surrounded by his loved ones. He was born in Chicago on February 11th, 1926 to Joseph and Fredia Johnson. Bob married Dorothy Kumke August 14th 1954 in Momence.
Bob was the owner of Robert F. Smith Construction Company for over 60 years and the past president of the Home Builders Association of Kankakee.
He loved to hunt, cut grass and read about history.
Surviving is his wife, and only son and daughter-in-law Troy W and Carrie Smith of Austin, Texas; his brother Ruben E. and Betty Smith; Nephew Brad and Nikki Smith and their children Abby and Colton. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Victor and Herbert and a nephew Brett Smith
A Gathering time for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30th and on Saturday January 31st from 9:30 a.m. until the Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home at 1900 West Court Street, Kankakee, IL.
Interment will be at Mound Grove Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Kankakee, IL
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Kankakee Valley.
