Woltjer, Dorothy May Dorothy May Woltjer, age 97, passed away on Friday, January 23, 2015 at Holland Home - Raybrook Manor in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was born on February 28, 1917, the daughter of Alva and Kate (DeBoer) Brown in Grand Rapids. Dorothy married Henry Jay Woltjer on July 21, 1942 at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Grand Rapids. Henry died in May 2002 after 60 years of marriage. Dorothy and Henry lived most of their married life in Grand Rapids except for 17 years spent in Saginaw, Michigan. Dorothy enjoyed her home, baking, sewing, teaching 4-H, gardening, volunteering at Pine Rest Hospital and she was a member of Providence CRC. She is survived by two children: a daughter, Marcia Woltjer of Kalamazoo, MI, and a son, Thomas Henry (Carol) Woltjer of Everett, WA; Also surviving are 4 granddaughters, Amy Lancaster, Keri (Ken) Pritchard, Lindsay Woltjer, Lydia Woltjer; 3 great grandchildren, Zachary, Olivia and Aiden; sister-in-law, Rose Brown; brother, Thomas Alva (Rita) Brown; brother-in-law, Kenneth Brander; 10 nieces, nephews and their families. A memorial service will be announced at a later date and a private graveside service will be held with Dorothy's family at Pine Hill Cemetery in Kentwood, MI. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer's Association.
