Mary Ellen Weeks

Mary Ellen Weeks of Kalamazoo, MI died peacefully at the age of 94. She was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, on August 2, 1920, to Arthur and Mabel (Hedges) McMaster. She graduated from the University of Nebraska in 1942 and taught primary school at Brainerd School in Utica, Nebraska, until 1943. She met James R. Weeks (at a Phi Mu sorority event) at the University of Nebraska. They married in 1944 in Baltimore Maryland, with a taxi driver as a witness! Jim was called to duty for two years during World War II. Mary then moved back to Lincoln to live with her father, where she worked in a physician's office. Mary Ellen and Jim had three children, Diane (Ron) Karlis; James (Sue) Weeks Jr; and Linda (Phill Orth) Weeks. She had seven grandchildren, Jesse (Kim) Rinehart; Kyle (Eric) Weisholtz; Tyler Weeks; Darcy (Chris) Morton; Nycki (Ryan) Moran; Katie (Ryan) Brang; Jim (Julia) Kreft; and eight great-grandchildren. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be a private family service at a later date. The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice and the group of friends who called themselves "Team Mary" for their professional and loving help at the end of Mary's journey.
