Dolores E. Slikkers, age 85, of Holland died on Thursday, December 18, 2014.

Dolores was a member of the Holland Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She was involved in personal ministries, women’s ministries, the church board, projects for the Holland Adventist School, church treasurer, Community Services Center director, and Sabbath school teacher for many years. Dolores was on the Andrews University Board of Trustees, the board for the It Is Written TV ministry in California, and Griggs University. She was a member of the Executive committees of the Seventh-Day Adventist Theological Seminary and the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists, as well as other leadership committees of the SDA world church. Additionally, Dolores was a member of the S2 Yachts Board of Directors. Dolores sent out many, many birthday cards every year, estimated at 2000+ per year! And she greatly enjoyed going out west skiing with her husband Leon. She was preceded in death by her sisters Marjorie and Lela, and her parents Allen and Evelyn Parker.

She is survived by her husband Leon of 67 years and children: David and Mary Slikkers of Holland; Robert and Barbara Slikkers of Holland; Susan Slikkers and Mark Ringwelski of Green Bay, WI; Thomas and Barbara Slikkers of Holland; grandchildren: Leon II, Steven, Kelly, Timothy, Samantha and Alexander Slikkers; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers: Bill and Jan Parker of Holland; Ted and Stella Parker of Zeeland; many nieces, nephews and cousins. And countless people she put her arms around and loved.

A funeral service will be 1:30PM, Monday, December 22, 2014, at the Holland Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 11279 Ottogan Avenue in Holland. Pastors Gene Hall, Craig Harris and Don MacLafferty will be officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Hamilton.

Visitation will be from 2-4 & 6-8PM, Sunday, December 21, 2014, at the S2 Yachts Showroom, 725 East 40th Street in Holland. Memorial contributions may be given to the Dolores Slikkers Memorial Fund c/o the Holland Adventist School, 11385 Ottogan Avenue in Holland. Arrangements are by Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel.
