Larry DeWayne Trewhitt was born February 27, 1943 to DeWayne H. and Dorothy E. (Everett) Trewhitt. Larry grew up in Portage, Michigan and joined the Army in 1961. He was stationed in Germany for 3 ½ years and married Ingeborg; they had a daughter Susanne Trewhitt. Larry was a military police and a marksman in rifle, pistol, and rocket launch. After returning to the states, Larry worked a short time for GM. He then went to work for the City of Pontiac where he worked in heavy equipment as a mechanic 3, specializing in diesel. He loved to hunt and started hunting as a young boy with his grandfather. Larry was an avid fisherman for walleye and had many fish tales to talk about. He worked for the DNR and was a member of the Oakland County Sportsman Club. When Larry was retired, he and had a wood working shop complete with his own saw mill. He spent many hours setting this up and had the love for teaching the trade to young people. Larry passed away on December 17, 2014. He was preceded in death by both his parents. He is survived by his wife, Marylis (Mike) of six years; his daughter, Susanne Trewhitt, of Pontiac; his grandson, Jeremy Trewhitt, of Pontiac; his two sisters: Sherrill (Jim) Lipford, of Portage, and Gail (Frank) Stender, of Scotts. Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, 11am at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
