Age 88, died on December 6, 2014 at White Oaks Assisted Living, Lawton. He was born December 5, 1926 in Ontario, Canada, the son of Harry and Amy (Watkins) Mears. Owen served in the Canadian Air Force, Sea-Air Rescue in the WWII. He was employed for 30 years at the Kalamazoo Gazette, working in the composing room and was a member of the International Typographical Union. On November 6, 1953 in Newport Beach , CA he was united in marriage to Helen A. Braybrooks, who preceded him in death on May 11, 2013. He was also preceded in death by 2 sisters: Joan Ewell and Kay Christie. Surviving are 4 children: Jayne (Douglas) Budzynski, Tom (Pamela) Mears, Amy (Balazs) Fekete and Andy Mears; 10 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Cremation will take place and private services are planned.
