Kay Marie Tompkins was born into this life December 18, 1949, and joined the spirit world on November 11, 2014. The pain and struggles of her life became too much to bear so she made the decision to return to her God. She leaves behind her daughters Amy and Jennifer, son-in-laws Brian and Brad, niece Kim and her husband Dan, grandchildren Ben, Cloe, Lucas, Jaidyn and Brady. Sister Jari Kral and brother-in-law Dennis, niece Megan and nephew Andrew. Kay’s father passed on in 1976 and her mother remarried in 1980 to Rosco Mumy. She has stepbrothers Ken, Craig and Scott and a stepsister Pam.

Kay was the middle daughter born in Kalamazoo Michigan to Gertrude and Leon Tompkins. She had an older sister, Jari and a younger sister Lorene. She was a bright and intelligent, graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and her mother always told her she should go to law school or medical school. She married Ronald Robert Taylor in 1967, and had 2 daughters, Amy & Jennifer. She worked tirelessly at Bronson Methodist Hospital for over 25 years, and she eventually became a Physicians liaison.

For her 40th birthday she took her daughters to Cancun, she graduated from Spring Arbor College in 1991, and moved to Lansing in 1997 to pursue her master’s degree. In 2003 Kay became an ordained minister at the Fellowship for Today. She was a spiritual woman, studying religions of the world and the Akashic Records. She loved family vacations at Lake Michigan, Michigan State football and basketball, reading and the beach. She frequented South Haven and the Leland Michigan to be near the water.

Kay had many opportunities to travel, visiting Alaska, the Grand Canyon, England, Mexico, and Florida. She visited the Caribbean on a windjammer cruise with Friends, and travelled extensively with her dear companion Roger Nelson. Her grandchildren brought her immense joy and she was tremendously proud of her daughters, their accomplishments and the women they have become.

Kay endured much pain in her life, but her struggles are no longer. She has been released into the arms of the Universal and All Powerful God where her body is now able to rest and her soul is free to soar on wings of light.
