Judith K. Newman Cox, 74, of Kankakee, left this earthly realm on Thursday early in the morning, November 20, 2014, to join her lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in the ER at Riverside Medical Center. Visitation will be from 2:00 pm to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2014 and from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 pm, Monday November 24th when the celebration of life service will begin all at the Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home. Rev. Dwight Ascher will officiate. Burial will be in Kankakee memorial Gardens, Aroma Township, Illinois.

She was born on August 2, 1940, in Watseka, Illinois, the daughter of William Hayes Newman and Shirley Geneva (Corrill) Newman. Judie married David B Cox on October 28, 1961. She was a graduate of St. Anne High School (1958) an d received her R.N. in March 1962 from Illinois Masonic Hospital School of Nursing, Chicago, IL. She retired from Riverside Medical Center after 40 years of service in 2005.

Her ministry for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, included being a member of Grace Baptist Church where she was a Choir member, Soloist, Prayer Warrior, a member of the Women of Grace, and a provider various clothes and toys for those who needed them, including the Roseland Community “Good News” Day Care, Chicago, Illinois.

Judie had also spent nearly five months as a volunteer R.N. at a Baptist Missionary Hospital in Bangladesh in 2002. She loved studying the Bible and did so privately and with other members of Grace Baptist Church and Second Baptist Church of Kankakee.

Surviving are her husband; one daughter, Nancy (Darrell) Reedy of Firsco, TX; a son, James D. (Kelly) Cox of Herscher; a son-in-law; Timothy G. Johnson of Kankakee; and nine grandchildren, Nathan (Christy) Reedy of Kansas City, KS; Kyle Reedy of Springfield, MO; Jordan Reedy of Frisco, TX; Lydia and Andrew Johnson of Pensacola, FL; Joshua Johnson of Kankakee; Jacob (Becky) Cox of Bradley; Allison and Cassidy Cox of Herscher; two brothers, William L. (Kathy) Newman of Mt. Home, AK; cousin, Joan (Allen) Gehmstep niece, Shantel Klinger of Chicago; Michael R. (Roberta) Newman of Winchester, OH. Deceased are her parents; one daughter, Debra L. Johnson; and two grandchildren, Matthew Reedy and Gracelyn Johnson.

Judie was always happy to tell you that she was a Sinner saved by the Grace of God, through the Blood of Jesus Christ.
