Betty Lou Rugg, 76, died Monday, October 27, 2014 at U of M in Ann Arbor, MI. She was born in Manistee, MI on November 6, 1937. She has a surviving brother, James Reeves. She also leaves many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, among many friends. She was the daughter of Logan James Reeves and Eveyly Marie Fields. Betty was an active member of Bethlehem Baptist Church for many years. She has recently been attending the Missionary Baptist Church. She volunteered her time to Loaves and Fishes, enjoyed gardening, loved her animals, and also enjoyed playing cards. She was a breast cancer survivor and she is well known for her hugs. She was often called Betty "Hug" Rugg. She was also known for her love of baking cookies and her love of travelling. She had a great spirit and loved life. Betty Rugg will be missed. Service will be held Friday, October 31, 2014 at Whitley Memorial, 330 N. Westnedge, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. There is a viewing from 11 AM-12 PM, then proceed to the chapel at Mount Ever Rest Cemetery.
