Marshall J. Allen, age 72, made his transition on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at his nephew’s residence. Marshall was the eldest of nine children born to the late Pastor Nesbie J. and Mother Vicie L. (nee: Barker) Allen on July 20, 1942, in Cleveland, Ohio. Marshall was a painter by trade and attended Gateway Technical College where he learned to upholster furniture. Marshall loved music and played the bongos in a few bands. He loved children and regularly spent weekends with his nephews. There was a time when he was an avid pool player, golfer, bowler and enjoyed playing cards. To treasure his memories he leaves four brothers and two sisters, Lemont of Racine, Sharyan (Luzell) Johnson of Birmingham, AL, Vernest (Alinda) of Bowie, MD, Lonnis of Atlanta, GA, Gladys Oliver of Racine, Oren (Marsha) of Milwaukee, two special nephews Damon and Jajuan Muhammad, and one aunt, Myrtle Harrell all of Racine. He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Algers and Reishton Allen, nephew Jimi Allen, niece Jahamarah Allen and brother-in-law Craig Oliver Sr. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at the funeral home at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Curtis L. Doss, officiating. The family will begin receiving guests at 12:00 p.m. The interment will be at Graceland Cemetery.
