Gary Dennis Nap, age 57, of Kalamazoo, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 25, 2014. He passed away at Rose Arbor Hospice residence following a courageous 16-month battle with cancer. Gary was born August 20, 1957 in Kalamazoo, the son of Henry and Henrietta (Cook) Nap. He worked for 30 years for Statler Ready-Mixed Concrete, Inc. at the Building Supplies Division, beginning as a semi-driver, advancing to dispatcher and becoming general manager. While working full time at Statler, Gary pursued his passion of creating a precast company. Superior Precast Products, Inc. was established in 1994, and remains a successful and thriving legacy. He loved: vacations with his family to the Northern Michigan areas of Mackinaw, Traverse City and Rogers City every year; being outdoors; rock quarries; gravel pits; driving his truck; building live traps; and going to trapping conventions, especially with his great friend, Ralph, and family. He was a quiet man of faith and a member of Hope Reformed Church for 35 years. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and several aunts and uncles. On October 6, 1978, Gary was united in marriage to his loving wife, Mary (VanderMeer) who survives. Also surviving are: his children, Julie and Adam Dintaman, and Becky Nap; grandchildren, Rylin Nap (who filled his life with JOY as his buddy the last two years) and Blake Dintaman (due in January 2015 who he so looked forward to meeting); a brother, Marvin (Nancy) Nap; in-laws, Don (Sue) VanderMeer and Marvin (Kim) VanderMeer; and several close nephews and nieces. A service to celebrate Gary's life will be held 11:00 AM Thursday morning, October 30th at Hope Reformed Church, 910 Jenks Blvd, with Pastor Kent Frens, officiating. Friends may meet with the family on Wednesday evening, October 29th, from 5:00 to 8:00 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Memorials may be directed to Hope Reformed Church.
