Gertrude "Trudy" Langejans

Gertrude “Trudy” Langejans, age 98, of Holland, died Sunday October 26, 2014 at Appledorn Care Center.

Trudy was born in Laketown Township in 1916 to the late Fred and Jennie Menken. She was a resident of the area her entire life. She was a member of Graafschap Christian Reformed church for over 35 years. She was involved in quilting, ladies aid, and church nursery. Trudy worked in the Kitchen at Resthaven at Maplewood for many years. During the years Trudy spent many hours volunteering serving people in the community who needed help. She was preceded in death by her husbands Giles Veldhuis in 1956, John Voorhorst in 1972 , Steve Langejans in 1998, and sons Dale Voorhorst in 1971, Lloyd Veldhuis 2014, an infant granddaughter, an infant great granddaughter, and son-in-law Herb Van Iddekinge in 2005.

Surviving are children; Junior and Sharon Langejans, Glenn and Phyl Langejans, Carl and Carla Langejans, Tom and Yolanda Langejans, Marla Van Iddekinge, Nancy and Scott Van Dyke, all of Holland, Lloyd and Sally Voorhorst of CA, Glenn and Jo Voorhorst of Charlotte, Florence and Don Martin of CA, Barbara and Ronald Hartgerink of South Haven, daughter-in-laws Vicki Veldhuis of Allegan, and Donna Turben of Overisel. Also surviving are several grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren, brother Howard and Joan Van Oss, sister Jean and Jerold Hulst, both of Holland, in-laws Theresa Van Oss, Gerene Langejans, Bertha Hulst, Juliana Hulst, Ann Hulst, Jack De Frell, Howard Hulst, and Frank Brummel. Several nieces and nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 am at Graafschap Christian Reformed Church. Officiating will be the Rev. Stan Scripps. Visitation will be Wednesday 10-11 am prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Overisel Cemetery.
