Gary VanEyk of Cooper Twp. Passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at Bronson Methodist Hospital at the age of 69. Gary was born in Kalamazoo on August 19, 1945, the son of the late Gerald and Joanne (Van Dam) VanEyk. He graduated from Parchment High School in 1963 and worked all of his life in the graphic arts industry. He was married to Pattie (Rietsema) VanEyk, who survives him. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Detroit Tigers and University of Michigan Football. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and found great pleasure in caring for the birds that he and Pattie rescued. Surviving besides his wife are two daughters, Tonja (Tim) Luken of Middlebury, IN and Gina (Nathan) Landry of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren, Jordan Elliott, Autumn Elliott, Amelia Elliott, Blake Luken and Brady Luken all of Middlebury, IN; one brother, Ronald (Sue) VanEyk of Cooper Township; several nieces and nephews; and two close family friends, Renee Webb and Heidi Durian of Kalamazoo. Friends may visit with the family from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 South Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007, where the service will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in East Cooper Cemetery.
