Elissa Gonzalez

Elissa Sharon Gonzalez, 63, of Holland, died Tuesday, October 7, 2014, at Butterworth Hospital, in Grand Rapids.

Born Elissa Grossman in Philadelphia, PA, Lisa made Holland her home in 1975 with her beloved husband, Alfonso Gonzalez, M.D.. Together they embraced West Michigan and chose to raise their son, Joshua, here. Elissa was a homemaker in the most authentic sense of the word. A wife, mother, friend and confidant to not only her children, but her extended family and treasured friends, Lisa’s home was a safe haven and gathering place for friends from the medical, education and business communities. Elissa was fiercely loyal, snarky, wise and quick to share a laugh when appropriate (and frequently when not). She made sure to always look on the bright side.

Elissa is survived by her children: Joshua (Sarah) Gonzalez of Houston, TX; Ronaldo Gonzalez of Beacon, NY; Dr. Andrea (Jose) Torrado of Ithaca, NY; Daniel Gonzalez of Jim Thorpe, PA; and Miguel (Nancy) Gonzalez of Oak Park, IL; as well as grandchildren: Selena Torrado, Adriana Torrado, Ruby Gonzalez, Diego Torrado, August Gonzalez. She is also survived by brother Frederick E Grossman (Rita Berkowitz) of New York, NY as well an extended family and wonderful friends.

A memorial visitation will be held Friday, October 10th, from 5 - 7 p.m. at Dykstra Funeral Home – Mulder Chapel; 188 32nd Street.
