Donald H. Todd, age 92, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather andgreat-great-grandfather went to be with his Lord Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving family. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel McNarland Todd, second wife, Della Feddick, son in law, Robert Schrotenboer, great grandson, Alexander Perez Pala, great granddaughter Christianna Murphy.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice (Good) Todd, his children, Ralph Todd, Jon and Prudy Berghorst, John and Patti Arndt, Steve and Denise Todd, Mike and Debbie Murphy, Joe and Debbie Clark, Doug and Donna Fagerstrom, Jerry and Pam Szymaczak and David and Beth Knopf, 24 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Don proudly served his country during WWII¸as a shipping clerk and chaplains assistant. Don believed in the value of education, and although he was only able to attend college as a part-time student; he took great pride in the educational accomplishment of his children and grandchildren. Don was an avid reader, reading a variety of genres but especially liked books dealing with biblical history, church history and the origin of hymns.

Don worked his whole career in the food industry, culminating as executive vice president for IGA corporation in Chicago, IL. He retired in 1984 and moved back to Holland to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Don was active in leadership roles in whatever church he was attending. He taught Sunday school, directed the choir, worked with the youth, and served on the church board. In his later years, with his wife Bunny, he assisted in the church office at Central Wesleyan church in Holland, MI. Don made it his special mission to honor each pastor and his family, supporting them, encouraging them and treating them to special vacations and events. It was his joy and passion to pass on a legacy of a personal relationship with the Lord to his co-workers, friends, and to his family. He had a heart for missions and supported a wide variety of missionaries in many different ministries. He was an active member of Gideon’s for many years. Don loved growing roses, visiting Lake Michigan, and vacationing with friends and family. Don will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends.
