Barr, Mrs. Evelyn Ruth Mrs. Evelyn Ruth Barr of Rockford, age 78, was led victoriously through her battle with cancer and into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Evelyn was born to Roy and Ruth (ne Harvey) Lundin in Sparta, Michigan on July 31, 1936 and was a graduate of Rockford High School. Evelyn married her high school sweetheart Ed Barr, after his great persistence, in 1963. It was then, that the two of them set out to raise their beautiful family. Until her retirement in 2006, Evelyn spent over fifty years working for Sackner Products in multiple capacities, but was most proud of her work with her church and for her Lord. Evelyn was a life-long member of Algoma Baptist Church. She played the organ and sang in the choir for over sixty years. She helped with the Awana Cubbies Program, served on several boards with the Michigan Baptist General Conference, was an auxiliary member of Gideons International, and had a strong heart towards missions, having served in God's Invasion Army. She also worked and volunteered alongside her brother David at Word of Life events. Some of her best family memories came from summers camping and time spent at Center Lake Bible Camp in Tustin, Michigan, where she volunteered in the kitchen as a cook. Evelyn was a beautiful woman; inside and out. She was also extremely talented and altruistic. She was a loving and devoted wife, wonderful mother, incredibly proud grandmother, and faithful servant to her Lord Jesus Christ. The most important thing to Evelyn was her family and that her children and grandchildren know the Lord. Her love for them was immeasurable. Evelyn is survived by her loving children, Christine (Jim) Johnson, Curtis (Carla) Barr, and Chad (Rachel) Barr; grandchildren Ryan (Courtney) Barr, Matt and Nick Whilden, Zachary (Susie) Barr, Molly (Kevin) Hofmeister, Noah and Gustav Barr, and Matt and Amanda Johnson; great grandchildren Issabell, Liam, and Clara Barr, Orion Johnson, and Angel Gabrick; brothers and sister Arden (Kathee) Lundin, David (Sheryl) Lundin, Delora (Ward) Johnson; brothers and sisters-in-law Charles (Kathi) Barr, Nellie (Carl Lambert Friske) Barr, Nancy (Ken) Erickson, Valerie (Dave) Heyt, and Margie Barr; mother-in-law Esther Barr; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of eighteen years Edwin John Barr; father-in-law Albert Barr; sister-in-law Mary Ann Barr; and brother-in-law Clifford Barr. There will be a time of visitation from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014, and from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 26, 2014, at Pederson Funeral Home, 127 N. Monroe Street NE, Rockford, MI 49341.
