Mary Lou Lentz of Kalamazoo passed away Tuesday morning, September 16, 2014 at her residence surrounded by her family, after a five year battle with breast cancer. Mary Lou was born November 16, 1933 in Negaunee, MI, the daughter of the late John and Winifred (Dodge) Withiel. Prior to her retirement she was employed for 40 years with Michigan Bell. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Telephone Pioneers of America. Mary Lou enjoyed shopping trips and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. On December 14, 1957, she was united in marriage to her loving husband, William, who preceded her in death on November 5, 1976. She was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Lentz. Mary Lou is survived by her children, William (Lynne) Lentz of Centreville, Gregory (Cheryl) Lentz of Kalamazoo, Lori (Gregory) Bodin of Gobles, Susan (Bryan) King of Climax, James (Diann) Lentz of Kalamazoo; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; and a brother, Jack (Sadie) Withiel. Friends may meet the family Thursday (today) from 6-8 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick where the Rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM Friday, September 19, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St. with Msgr. Mike Hazard, Celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the West Michigan Cancer Center or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
