Jean Powers

Jean Powers, age 87, of Saugatuck, passed away, Friday, September 12, 2014.

Jean was born in Forest City, North Carolina, to John and Pearl (Tomblin) Allen.

Jean left her hometown to spend her younger years modeling in New York before moving to Saugatuck, Michigan and marrying Jack Powers.

Jean worked at the Tara, Butler, and was a realtor with Century 21, in Saugatuck, until her retirement in 1986.

Her favorite pastime was bowling where she and fellow league members won several trophies. She loved to sing along to well-known church hymns while spending her last few years at Resthaven. May she join her husband Jack and other loved ones in Heaven. God rest her soul.

Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Jack in 1985 and her brothers, Vernon and James and a sister Virginia.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan (John) Balks, Carol (Len) Zeppo, Linda (Randy) Connor; 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandsons; sisters and brother, Wanda Holland, Elva Dean (Toody) Padget, and Joe Allen.

Funeral services will be 2 pm Tuesday at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street, with the Rev. Leigh Van Kempen officiating.

Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Saugatuck.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
