Dr. Jerome H. Wassink, age 78, of Holland, passed away Friday, September 5, 2014, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Jerome was born in East Saugatuck, MI to Henry and Cornelia (Blaauw) Wassink.

He graduated from Hope College and Wayne State University Medical School.

After a year of internship in Grand Rapids, he returned to Holland and joined Holland Family Medicine, where he practiced for many years.

During that time, he served as Medical Director of the newly formed, Hospice of Holland.

Jerome was a member of the First Reformed Church of Holland, where he served on the greater consistory.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn, of 52years; children, Thomas and Adrienne Wassink of Iowa City, IA, Mark and Wendy Wassink of Grand Rapids, and Lynne and Larry Vork of Zeeland; grandchildren, Luke and Boanne Wassink, Joshua and (fiancée Christina) Wassink, Joseph Wassink, Cassie Wassink, Caleb Wassink, Henry Wassink, and Theodore Wassink; brothers and sister, Stewart and Shirley Wassink, Carl and Ruth Wassink, Don and Lorna Wassink, Sharon and Larry Haverdink, Vern and Linda Wassink, Hugh and Paula Wassink, and Bob and Cathy Wassink; in-laws, Roger and Marilyn Van Gunst, Wendell and Ruth Van Gunst, Joan and Roger Sikkenga, and Janet and Don Hasselbring; several nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Memorial services will be 1:30 pm, Tuesday at the First Reformed Church, 630 State Street, with the Rev. Dr. Daniel Gillett officiating.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday at the Dykstra Funeral Home-Mulder Chapel, 188 West 32nd Street.
