DETERS, GARY Gary J. Deters, age 78, went to be with his Lord, Saturday, August 23, 2014. Gary will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, LaVonne Deters (VanderWal); his children, David (Jackie) Deters, Daniel (Susan) Deters, Karen (Jeff) VanDam; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and his sister, Eunice "Tootie" Neerken. Gary served for 29 years in the Wyoming Police Department, retiring as a Corporal. He loved to fish and hunt. Gary also had a garage full of tools and loved woodworking. A time for relatives and friends to visit with Gary's family will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Tuesday, September 2, at Cook Funeral Home in Grandville, 4235 Prairie St. SW (west building). Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday, September 3, at Jenison Bible Church, 6360 14th Ave. Rev. Lee Buer will be officiating.
