Harley Clinard, Jr. passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at the age of 90. Harley was born in Watervliet, MI, the son of the late Harley Clinard Sr. and Florence (Richardson) Clinard. He served with the 82nd Airborne in the United States Army during World War II. He attended Michigan State University and Western Michigan University. Harley was a member of Twin Lakes Reformed Church. He belonged to the Disabled American Veterans. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading, hunting, fishing and farming. He retired from Kalsec Incorporated. Harley spent many years building a family chalet at St. Martin's Point. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Bernadine Elaine (Wright) Clinard; four children, Gerrie Carmen of Merritt Island, FL, Harley (Lynn) Clinard III of Kalamazoo, Roger (Joanne) Clinard of Lansing and Judy (Terry) Bussema of Mattawan; 11 grandchildren, Kim Bishop, Michele (Dennis) Beaugrand, Rob (Jennifer) Caro Jr., Teresa (Nick Williams) Caro, Stephen (Cindy) Caro, Martin (Becky) Clinard, Sarah Clinard, Jacob (Heidi) Clinard, Rachel (Bob) Seidel, Elaine Bussema and Billy Bussema; 20 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Norma Clinard; and many nieces and nephews. Harley was preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Clinard and one sister, Jane Clinard. Friends may visit with the family from 2 - 4 p.m. & 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The funeral service will be held at the funeral chapel at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 28, 2014, officiated by Pastor Ron Lugten. A graveside service with military honors will take place at Grand Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Twin Lakes Reformed Church, Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
