Katherine Brown

Katy was welcomed into Heaven on Wednesday morning, August 20, 2014, at age 85. Katy was born May 3, 1929 in Lansing, MI to the late George and Gladys (Dunham) Poulos. She was united in marriage to Lee Clark Brown, Jr. on February 2, 1952, who preceded her in death in April of 1972. Katy, who loved photography, was a known camera 'fanatic' for years. She volunteered at Ingham Medical Center, now McLaren of Greater Lansing, for 40 years. Volunteer services at Ingham Medical, initiated the Katy Brown Smile Award of which she was the first recipient. It is awarded annually to a volunteer in honor of Katy. Church and hospital work were her passion as she loved helping others. Katy is survived by her children, Lee (Annie) Brown, III of Mesa, AZ and Georgia (Dennis) Boyle of Portage; grandchildren, Anthony, Charles, Eric and Shannon Boyle, Kristen Self, Rich Thoma and Kristin Coriano; many great grandchildren; sister, Mary (Bill) Geisler; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Electa Galey. Katy is also preceded in death by brother, John Poulos. Family will greet friends on Monday from 1-3 and 5-7 PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave., Portage, MI 49002. A memorial service will take place, Saturday, September 6 at 11 AM at River Terrace Christian Reformed Church, 1509 River Terrace Dr., East Lansing, 48823.
