Catherine V. Dugdale, age 71, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at Casa Del Maré, Kenosha. Catherine was born in Racine, April 17, 1943 daughter of the late Henry and Viola (Nee: Heidenreich) Schuppe.

Catherine was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1961.” Furthering her education she received a BS in Elementary Education from UW-Milwaukee, June of 1965, and Masters degree in reading from Cardinal Stritch University, December of 1987. Catherine taught in schools in Wisconsin and Illinois. She taught at The Prairie School in Racine from 1984 as a classroom teacher and reading specialist, until her retirement in September of 2009. In 1966 she was united in marriage to James Dugdale at Kenwood United Methodist Church in Milwaukee. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Racine where she held several leadership positions. Catherine also held professional memberships in local, state, and national reading organizations. She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her beloved daughter, Rebecca (Christopher) Carriveau of Gilbert, AZ; Rebecca’s father, James Dugdale of Chicago, IL; sister, Nancy Nitzke of Danville, IL; niece, Heidi (Bob) Bullock of Danville, IL and their daughter, Amber Lynn Bullock; aunts and uncles, Delores Craft, Anne Heidenreich, Helen Pulice, all of Racine, Hattie Schuppe of Franksville, Bob and Venice Schuppe of Wheeling, IL; her Emmaus Sisters, many cousins, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her grandparents, George and Katherine (Nee: Fiebig) Schuppe and Anthony and Viola (Nee: Klapproth) Heidenreich; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and lifelong friend, JoAnne Lesmeister.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 21, 2014, 7:00 P.M. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3825 Erie Street, with Rev. Jeanne M. Jones officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 5:00 P.M. until time of service at 7:00 P.M. Private entombment will be held at Calvary Garden Crypts. In lieu of flowers, per Cathy’s wishes, memorials to The Prairie School Scholarship Fund or to the American Diabetes Association.

A very special thank you to her many caregivers at Casa Del Maré for their loving and compassionate care.
