Elaine M. Oremovich, age 88, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center. Elaine was born in Racine, February 4, 1926, daughter of the late John and Matilda (Nee: Stepanski) Witkofski.

On November 4, 1944 at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church she was united in marriage to Rudolph “Rudy” Oremovich who preceded her in death, February 11, 2009. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Elaine was a bingo fanatic who enjoyed word search books, watching cooking shows, and watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers. Above all she was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy Mertins; grandchildren, Kris Mertins of Racine, Steven (Phyllis) Mertins of Fond du Lac, Eric (Melissa) Mertins of Racine, James Mertins (Stephanie) of Racine; great-grandchildren, Matthew, Jeremy, Mason, Andrew, Caitlin, Allyson, Arthur, and Tommy; sisters, Marilyn (Don) Stephens and Carol (Gene) Heck; sisters-in-law, Jeanette Domanico, Mert Witkofski; other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Dorothy (Harrison) Kastler, Ambrose “Buddy” Witkofski, Lorraine Witkofski, LaVerne (Richard) Beegle, Kenny Witkofski, Ruth Schoenert, Nancy Isen, and Elmer (Audrey) Witkofski.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 21, 2014, 11:30 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1533 Erie St. with Rev. Steve Varghese officiating. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Garden Mausoleum, Hwy 32. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Thursday at the church from 10:30 A.M. until time of Mass at 11:30 A.M. Memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church have been suggested.
