Surrounded by her loving family, Sylvia Quadracci, age 90, passed away Monday, July 28, 2014 at the Racine Hospice House. Sylvia was born in Racine, January 21, 1924, daughter of the late Ralph and Gabriella (Nee: Defozio) Nicotera and was a lifelong resident of Racine.

Sylvia was a graduate of William Horlick High School “Class of 1942”. On May 10, 1947 in Racine she was united in marriage to William “Willy” Quadracci. She and her husband owned and operated Willie’s Sentry Food Store on Douglas Avenue from 1956-1993. Sylvia was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Meadowbrook Country Club, and Vittoria Colonna. She enjoyed golfing and was a fabulous cook. Above all she cherished time spent with her family and will be deeply missed.

She made beautiful beaded necklaces, which she sold and donated all proceeds to the Parkinson’s Foundation and Health Care Network of Racine. Wear one of Sylvia’s necklaces with joy to celebrate her life.

Survivors include her children, Jane (James) Peterson of Oro Valley, AZ, Joan (Greg) Newman, Lynn (Dennis)Blum, all of Bonita Springs, FL; her grandchildren, Elliot (Andra) Newman of Greenwich, CT, Benjamin Blum, Brian Blum, William Blum, all of Dublin, OH; three great-grandchildren, William, Anna Wynn, and Mary Elliott Newman; sisters and brothers, Mary Cefalu, Frank (Evelyn) Nicotera, Ralph Nicotera, Virginia (Tom) Linden, all of Racine; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Willy; by her infant son, William; brother-in-law, Joseph Cefalu; and sister-in-law, Margie Nicotera.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, July 30, 2014, 11:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2201 Northwestern Avenue, with Rev. Michael Newman officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Wednesday at the church from 9:30 A. M. until time of Mass at 11:00 A.M. Entombment will be held at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Health Care Network Inc., 904 State Street, Racine, WI 53404, Hospice Alliance, 10220 Prairie Ridge Boulevard, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158, or to Career Industries, 4800 Washington Avenue, Racine, WI 53406 have been suggested.
