Sandrea Thomas

Sandrea Lane Thomas of Kalamazoo went to be with her Lord, peacefully at her home on July 20, 2014 at the age of 68. Sandrea was born October 4, 1945 in Kalamazoo to the late Donald W. and Ruth A. (Klepper) Thomas. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1963. She was the first woman to serve on the Board of Directors of the Kalamazoo Home Builders Association. Sandrea retired from Consumers Concrete Corporation in 2001. She enjoyed part-time employment at the Langeland Family Funeral Home. Sandrea volunteered at the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission and the Shepherds Center. She was a member of Hope Reformed Church and served countless hours on the Church Life Committee, organizing events, dinners, and trips. She was formerly married to Loren L. McKinstry and is survived by their three children, Mikael (Karen) McKinstry, Michelle (Ron) Meyers, Melissa (Michael) Schewe; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five siblings, Tom (Phyllis) Thomas, Stephen (Mieneke) Thomas, Gregory (Sharon) Thomas, Donald (Charlotte) Thomas, Donna Thomas Frye, and many nieces and nephews. It was her desire that gifts or memorials be donated to the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, or the Hope Reformed Church Legacy Foundation. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the Langeland Family Funeral Home, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street, from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A Funeral Service to Celebrate Sandrea's Life will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Hope Reformed Church (910 Jenks Blvd.) with Pastor Kent Frens officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service with interment at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
