Calvin Davis

Calvin L. Davis of Kalamazoo passed away on Tuesday evening, July 15, 2014 at The Laurels of Galesburg. He was born on August 31, 1925 in Fitzhugh, AR, the son of the late William and Allie (Clark) Davis. On September 23, 1944, Calvin was united in marriage to Malla B. Lawhorn. He was employed by Parchment Public Schools for over 20 years until his retirement in 1991. Surviving are four children, Billy (Patricia) Davis of Galesburg, MI, John (Joyce) Davis of Otsego, MI, Gracia (Robert) Mason of Portage, MI and Kim (Bumki) Cho of Portage, MI; nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; brother, Claude Davis of Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife of 62 years, Malla Davis on May 16, 2007; two sons, Jerry and Jimmy Davis; three sisters, Evelyn Due, Pebble Brogden and Gladys Sparks and one brother, William "Bill" Davis. Visitation will be today, Thursday, July 17, from 5-8 PM at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with a prayer service at 7 PM. Following visitation in Kalamazoo, Calvin will be taken to Jackson's Funeral Home, 1900 Block Malcolm in Newport, AR, where visitation will be on Sunday, July 20, from 2-5 PM followed by a funeral service on Monday, July 21 at 2 PM. Interment will be in Sandhill Cemetery in Auvergne, AR. The family requests that flowers not be sent for the visitation in Kalamazoo, but would be permitted at the Jackson Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to The Laurels of Galesburg.
