Leroy Donley, 62, of Herscher passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 at Rush Medical Center, Chicago, IL. He was born September 15, 1951 in Kankakee, IL to Cecil and Velma (Zimmerman) Donley. Leroy graduated from Herscher High School and married Mary Hartman, February 23, 1973 at the Herscher United Methodist Church.

For 41 years he was a truck driver for Tobey’s Construction and retired in 2013. He was a member of the Herscher United Methodist Church where he proudly served as an usher for many years. Leroy was a Nascar fan and enjoyed watching the Chicago Bears and the Black Hawks.

He is survived by 3 sons and 1 daughter in law; Clayton and Linda Donley of Los Altos, CA, Phillip Donley of North Bend, WA, and Justin Donley of Minneapolis, MN and 4 grandchildren, Ethan, Emma, Russell and Harrison, Donley. Also surviving are 2 brothers and sisters in law; Gene and Sandra Donley of Bourbonnais, Gerry and Beth Donley of Athens, Alabama, 5 sisters and 4 brothers in law; Thelma and Bob Webber of Herscher, Velma and Dale Murphy of Cabery, Alice and Morry Decker of Bradley, Carol and Carl Desch of Herscher, Jennie Donley of Campus and many nieces and nephews.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, and a nephew Jason Benjamin.

A gathering of family and friends will be Friday, July 18th at the Herscher Chapel of the Schreffler Life Story Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Another gathering will take place at 10:00 before a celebration of life service will be held, Saturday, July 19th at 11:00 A.M. at the Herscher United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at the Pilot Center Cemetery in Herscher, IL. Memorials may be made to the Herscher United Methodist Church.
