Mildred Irene Hoover Union City Mildred Irene Hoover, 100, of Union City, passed away July 15, 2008 at the Laurels of Coldwater. She was born January 8, 1908 to Clarence and Louise (Marzolf) Schuch in Fayette, Ohio. She worked many years for the Whiting-McLaughlen Drug Store and as a cook for the Union City elementary school. She is survived by a daughter, Rose M. (Harry) Whitcomb; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren, brothers; William (Gertrude) Schuch, Charles (Norma) Schuch; and sisters, Vera Baylis, Ellen Palmer, and Audrey Peterson. Mildred was preceded in death by husbands, Lawrence Schultz, Dewey Hatfield, and Merle Hoover. Also preceding her in death were sons, Robert Schultz, Lawrence and his wife, Jean Schultz; sisters, Luella Gilbert, Mary Buckles, Grace Booth; and brothers, Ivan and Paul Schuch. She loved gardening, flowers and people. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Union City and the Mary Circle. She also belonged to the Green Thumb Garden Club, a life member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Michigan and the National Council of State Garden Clubs, Inc. She earned a 1984 Citizen of the year award from Union City. Visitation will be Sunday, July 20, 2008 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Union City. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 21, 2008 at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Rob Hughes officiating.
