Pet Cremations

Pet Animals are wonderfully agreeable friends. They ask so little of us, and give so much love in return. When it comes time for you to let go of your animal companion, making the decisions on how to care for their physical remains can be heart-wrenching.

Mt. Pleasant Pet Cremation Service, in coordination with Charles R. Lux Family Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant, takes great pride in what we do. By offering cremation services for your pet, our purpose is to provide a dignified method in which to care for your pet after its life ends. We understand that pets are not just animals, but are an important part of your family and, as such, should be treated with the same dignity, care, and respect after they die.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are your normal business hours?

While we operate and are available 24 hours a day, our normal office hours are Monday-Friday 9-5. If you should need our services outside our normal business hours, please call our 24 hour support line at 989-773-5616.

Does our pet's cremation take place in the same cremation chamber as human cremations?

Absolutely not. It is against the law to use the same cremation chamber for both humans and animals.

Is our pet cremated with other animals at the same time?

Absolutely not. We only provide private cremations for pets. A private cremation means your pet is placed in the cremation chamber alone. Upon completion of the cremation, your pet's cremated remains are removed from the chamber, and returned to you, in a wood urn.

Do you cremate any pet?

Yes. We cremate all pets from rats to ferrets, dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds and exotic pets. However, we are unable to cremate pets weighing more than 200 pounds.

What if our pet dies outside of your normal business hours?

1. If your pet is indoors, keep the room they are in as cool as reasonably possible. If your pet is small enough, and you are comfortable with the idea, you may wrap your pet and place them in a cooler or in a freezer until servce can be provided. This does not in affect our process in any way. At this time, if you wish, you may remove your pet's collar or clip a lock of hair. Also, you can decide if there are any items you would like to send with your loved one.

2. You may also prefer to call our 24 hour support line at 989-773-5616. One of our staff members can meet you at our facility to take in your pet at any time. There is an after hours fee of $175 that applies in addition to the cremation fee.

3. We can also come to your residence for the transfer. There is a recovery fee of $75 to provide this service within a 20 mile radius of our facility.

What if my pet dies at the Veterinarian's office?

If, or when, a final appointment is made with your veterinarian, it is a good idea to let us know so we may coordinate with the veterinarian. Our charge for a pet transfer from a veterinarian office is a minimum of $75. You do have the option of bringing your loved one to our facility from the veterinarian's office.
