Passed away peacefully Saturday morning, January 28, 2006, at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence. He was born April 2, 1932 in Louisville, KY, the son of the late Vincent and Hattie (Pierce) Abell. Carl was employed by Buck Forkhardt Co. for over 19 years, and the Greater Kalamazoo Auction for two years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #88 and the Gull Lake United Methodist Church. On April 11, 1981, Carl was united in marriage to Winifred (Wise) McCormick in Kalamazoo, who survives. Also surviving are six step-children, Jeff (Bev) McCormick of Kalamazoo, Patti (Bob) Hubbard of Battle Creek, Rick (Kelly) McCormick of Richland, Ronald McCormick of Kalamazoo, Jane (Larry) McCormick-Hamilton of Kalamazoo, and Jon (Brenda) McCormick of Galesburg; twelve grandchildren; one brother, Richard Abell of Kalamazoo; and two sisters, Juanita Mlodzinski of Plainwell, and Elizabeth (Robert) Thoren of Belvedere, IL; and a brother-in-law, Jim (Connie) Wise of Richland. Preceding him in death is one step-son, Michael McCormick in 2002; and two sisters, Corrine and Dorothy Abell. Services for Mr. Abell will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Gull Lake United Methodist Church, 8640 Gull Road, with Rev. Thom Davenport and Rev. Dan Minor officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. tonight (Monday) at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery.
