Whether he was cruising down the open road on a motorcycle, staying active and fit, or playing around with his beloved dog Leyna, Matthew “Muggsy” Leach continually touched the lives of those around him in far reaching ways. He had a compassionate heart and great sense of humor, many hobbies and countless friends. Matt embraced the love of his family above all else and spent a lifetime making cherished memories which will be forever etched in the hearts of all those he leaves behind. Although his days did not number as many as some, the footprint that Matt created on the world is no less significant.

Life during the 1970s in America was defined by great change in the fabric of our nation with advancements in civil rights, women’s rights, and in our continued pursuit of what lay beyond our world at the space program reached new heights. Mood rings, lava lamps and pet rocks were some of the fads of this generation while disco music kept people grooving on the dance floor all night. It was during this unprecedented time that Michael and Linda Leach of Rochester, New York celebrated the birth of their son, Matthew, on August 28, 1974. Matt, as he was called, was one of three children with siblings, Colleen and Mark.

Life was always full of adventure for Matt. He loved to experience and appreciate the world around him, enjoying a great many different hobbies and interests. One of Matt’s passions was to stay physically fit in body and mind. He enjoyed playing football, boxing and wrestling, and later went on to coach wrestling in the Greece, Athena, Pittsford and Brockport School Districts. Life could not get any better for Matt when he was on his motorcycle flying down the open road. Some of his closest friends were his brothers in the Punishers Motorcycle Club, of which he was a member. Although much of his life was filled with fun, work had its place too, and Matt was a Security Guard for RDG Security.

Throughout his life, those he loved were so important to Matt. He cherished his family deeply though nothing compared to his love for his wife, Theresa. Matt would have wanted an additional member of his family to be mentioned too – his dog, Leyna, his faithful sidekick. Loved by many, Matt will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Matthew J. "Muggsy" "Matt" Leach of Greece died suddenly on Saturday, July 21, 2012. Matt is predeceased by his grandparents, James & Angela Pupatelli. He is survived by his loving wife, Theresa A. Adduci Leach; parents, Michael and Linda Leach; siblings, Colleen Dittman, Mark (Mary) Leach; grandparents, Delmar and Mary Leach; nephews, Jacob and William Dittman and Cole Leach (Godson); mother in-law and father in-law, Valerie and Jerome Adduci; sister in-law, Kristen (Tyler) Wallis; several aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends; and dog, Leyna. Matt's visitation will be on Tuesday, July 24, from 6-9 p.m. and Wednesday, July 25, from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home, 1411 Vintage Lane (between Rte 390 & Long Pond Road). His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Church, 2400 W. Ridge Rd. Interment in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Matt Leach Scholarship Fund, c/o Pittsford Central School, 75 Barker Rd.
