Norma Jean Abbott, 81, of Novi, formerly of Bloomfield Hills, died Saturday, Nov. 1, 2008.
She summered in Elk Rapids, where she enjoyed gardening and being with family. She also enjoyed painting and antiquing. She was a former member of the Village Women's Club.
She was the wife of the late George "Pete" Abbott Jr.; dear mother of Jim (Leslie), Patti (Joe), Bill (Karen) and Dave (Cathy); grandmother of Chris, Megan, Michael and Emma; daughter of the late Hattie Hollister. She is also survived by many extended family members and lifelong friends.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, Nov. 5, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Desmond and Sons (Vasu, Rodgers and Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave., in Royal Oak.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 1800 W. Maple Rd., in Birmingham. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. at the church.
